ABOUT ME
Having spent my childhood reading books, visiting art galleries, watching films and going to the theatre, it seemed inevitable that I would eventually work in the arts and heritage sector.
For more than 35 years, from my first job as a Box Office Assistant to becoming Head of Marketing at West Dean College and Gardens, I worked across arts, media, heritage and cultural organisations in marketing, communications, fundraising and project development.
Since 2013 I have combined that professional background with my longstanding work as a writer, researcher, lecturer and speaker specialising in film, television, literature and culture. My portfolio career now spans fundraising, marketing, development, writing, public speaking, teaching and cultural research, primarily working with charities, arts and heritage organisations.
I currently work with Chichester Cathedral Restoration and Development Trust raising funds and the profile of projects spanning music, education, heritage and the arts.

Birds Eye Fish Finger Advert - Captain Birds Eye (Lesson)
1. As a child I was in some TV adverts. Can you spot me in these two?
2. I love swimming in the sea and, since 2020, have swum throughout the year including winter. Cold, but amazing.
3. Inspired by a course at West Dean, I now make jewellery and collages from found objects.
4. Given my surname, it was probably inevitable that I would become fascinated by Alice in Wonderland. I now own more than 120 film and TV adaptations.
5. The British film star Margaret Lockwood was my grandfather’s first cousin. Sadly I never met her, but I do love her films.
